Amazon wants 5,105 more satellites at 510 to 580 kilometers, on top of the Leo broadband constellation it already has approved. Each one lasts six to eight years, so the whole fleet needs continuous replacement forever. The spectrum comes from an $11.57 billion Globalstar buy that has not closed yet. Low Earth orbit is being carved up by two retail companies and nobody is counting the debris.
