“Even more troubling, Medina said he "purposefully did not record because he was invoking his 5th Amendment right not to self-incriminate."”

Chief Harold Medina ran a red light and broke Todd Perchert’s collarbone, shoulder blade and 8 ribs. The department’s own crash board first called it “non-preventable.” Medina then claimed a Fifth Amendment right to leave his camera off because the footage would incriminate him. Other Albuquerque officers have been fired for this, and the chief got two reprimands and a mayor calling him a hero.
