EPFL hired 44 Mechanical Turk workers to summarize 16 medical abstracts and caught up to 46% of them using ChatGPT. Companies pay gig workers badly and demand speed, then act shocked when the workers automate. The “human” data feeding the next model is partly the last model. Nobody upstream can tell which half they bought.
