One person has closed about 5,300 Emacs bugs since 2019. A quarter of the patch-tagged bugs he closed had already been applied and nobody marked them. Emacs is 46 years old, and its bug tracker still depends on one volunteer’s free time. That is how most of the software you rely on works.
